Mummy Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 batch of roll dough (see my hot rolls recipe or use your favorite)
  • 1/4 c. cream cheese, softened or whipped
  • 1/4 c. diced bell pepper
  • 1/4 c. diced black olives
  • 1/4 c. diced mushrooms
  • 1/4 c. canned chilis, drained
  • 1/4 c. fresh diced tomatoes
  • Other diced veggies as desired
  • 1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • garlic powder
  • coarse salt
  • Italian seasoning
  • 2 T. butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Roll out the roll dough into a large rectangle.
  3. Spread cream cheese down the middle of the dough, the long way, leaving room (about 5 inches) on either side of the dough.
  4. Sprinkle garlic powder on the cream cheese.
  5. Sprinkle the veggies and cheeses over the cream cheese.
  6. Cut the dough on either side of the toppings into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  7. Fold the strips over the toppings, alternating sides, to make a mummy shape.
  8. Melt the butter and brush it over the dough.
  9. Sprinkle with a bit of salt and Italian seasoning.
  10. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  11. Let rise for about 20 min. or more if you have time.
  12. Bake for about 18 min. or until golden brown.
